Muirfield visit to stables brings back memories
We have a couple of residents who had owned horses in their past and who had dearly wished to be with horses again.
One of our staff who recently joined us here at Muirfield has horses stabled nearby.
On a cold and icy morning we donned our warmest coats, fur hats, boots and gloves and headed off on the bus to a farm in the middle of nowhere.
Don, our bus driver that day, expertly negotiated the slippery farm tracks and reversed the bus into the cobbled courtyard at the stables.
We were provided with nuts for the horses, and both residents were able to meet, pet and feed three different horses.
It was a simple outing that brought so much pleasure, because it meant so much to them as individuals
