Kiltwalk Success!

Kiltwalk Success!

Congratulations to staff from Muirfield and Kirk Lane Nursing Homes, on completing the Kiltwalk on Sunday 15th September.

Muirfield team Fiona Fung (Deputy Manager), Natalia Pakiet (Activity Coordinator), and Joanna Courtney (Administrator) joined their Kirk Lane colleagues, Pamela Sweeney (Care Assistant), and Izabella Kaminska (Principal Carer), to complete the 11.5 mile walk from Musselburgh. They all joined Sandra Lewis, Team Leader from Kirk Lane who completed the 21 mile walk from Holyrood Park.

Their 4 hour walk (and 6 hours for Sandra) raised an incredible £1,480 for Alzheimer Scotland.

“We loved the beautiful scenery at Musselburgh walking alongside Portobello Promenade, and completed it in a better time than last year at Kiltwalk, Glasgow.”

Cameron Smith, Principal Carer from Muirfield came to support the team at the finish line and told us his thoughts:

“As I stood by the finish line, cheering on the staff from Muirfield and Kirk Lane Nursing Homes during the Kiltwalk 2024, I couldn’t help but feel immense pride. I watched closely as our team from Muirfield, who I work with every day, approached the end of their journey, raising money for Alzheimer’s Scotland with every step they took. I clapped and shouted encouragement, knowing how much this meant to all of us.
As they crossed the finish line, smiles of relief and accomplishment spread across their faces, and I was proud to be part of the Muirfield team. The energy was infectious and cheering them on made me feel deeply connected to the cause.
Afterwards, I had the opportunity to meet the staff from Kirk Lane, who had walked alongside us for the same important mission. It was wonderful to connect with them, knowing we were all in this together, even though we work at different homes. Sharing that moment with both teams was incredibly meaningful, as we united to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Scotland. It was a day of pride, unity, and purpose, and I was honoured to be a part of it all.”

Well done team – we are very proud of you!
