Our Manager

Fidra House is managed by David Livingstone who has extensive experience and a wealth of knowledge in the care of older people. We are enjoying the new, exciting and practical developments that he brings to Fidra House.

Our Team

As a nursing home, Fidra House has a very dedicated team and a high level of qualified staff. Our nurses are on duty 24 hours a day and this provides peace of mind for residents and their families. Together with our committed care and support staff, there is a professional and compassionate team with the ability to bring joy and fulfilment every day.

At Fidra House, the team comprises of managerial and administrative staff as well as domestic, kitchen and ancillary staff. David and other senior staff, lead a strong professional unit where staff get to know the name of every resident and treat our residents with compassion, affection and above all, respect.

Fidra House is also supported by our Head Office Team.

Expertise and Continuity

Fidra House meets National Care Standards, see our inspection report and this is in many ways due to the outstanding performance of the team. The assignment of a named nurse and key worker to each resident ensures person-centred care, and we find that a single point of contact is helpful to keep families informed about daily activities and care.

The rooms are always clean and fresh. Also, the care that goes into each resident looking so well looked after – hair lovely, well-dressed and cared for. Every visit, I leave with a smile.

There is always a nice atmosphere in the home and we know Dad was very happy. You have given us some lovely memories, of happy times we shared with Dad – the garden party and the street party being two of them.

We would especially like to thank the lovely staff in Craig Suite, who looked after Dad at all times with good humour, kindness, respect and obvious affection. Dad was certainly very fond of them all too. We would like to mention every one of them because each one contributed their own special talent to his care, especially in his final days, and made sure that he died peacefully and comfortably.

We are also grateful for the support which we received during this difficult time.

Visited my relative in Fidra today and was so relieved to see she is being so well cared for. She has a room with a beautiful view of the garden, and all her home comforts. The dining/TV room had French doors open out onto the garden which means all residents are able to enjoy the outdoors too.

Excellent, very caring staff. Very clean and the food is very much to both my parent’s liking. The attention to detail is exemplified by the catering – likes and dislikes are catered for. Whenever I ask my parents about what they had for lunch or dinner, they always say it is delicious (and they each have different food). I am also impressed with the reaction to any difficulties – as different care solutions are required, they are proactively put in place.

Mum quickly settled in and now participates in every activity going! She loves living there and is no longer isolated and lonely, all of which seems to have helped her general well-being.

We are happy knowing she is well fed, receives her medication as required and her personal hygiene is looked after.

We were impressed with the ensuite room allocated to Mum, the facilities and activities available and above all the caring and friendly approach of all the staff we met.

I’d recommend Fidra House if you are looking for a care home in the area.

The staff are always friendly and caring towards my dad. Even when he has tricky days, they show patience and understanding. He enjoys chatting to the staff, and any grumble he might have, the staff listen and try and help where possible.
