Here at Fidra House, our excellent in-house chef and kitchen team offer nutritionally-balanced, freshly prepared meals. We provide appetising meals tailored for our residents and try to accommodate different tastes and diets as far as possible.
Dining
Nutrition is more than just about the food and therefore our goal is also about making mealtimes a social gathering. Residents can however choose where to eat and some prefer the privacy of their own room, whilst others enjoy eating together in the dining room, with its windows looking out onto the garden.
Weight Management
As we get older we may eat less and therefore it is the responsibility of the Chef and team to make food interesting, nutritious and tempting. This is especially important for those who need to put on some weight after a spell of being unwell. Maintaining a healthy diet is an essential part of our care programme.
Varied Menu
Our menu is varied and changes on a four-weekly cycle with hot and cold meals, vegetarian options and ever-popular puddings.
There is a choice of two hot meals at our lunch and dinner sittings and, for those residents looking for a lighter bite, there is always the option to have a smaller snack from our smaller plate or snack menu.
We like to bake a cake when a resident is celebrating a birthday or event, and often link meals to special events in the calendar such as Burns Night or Easter. There is plenty of flexibility if a resident has a particular like or dislike but our chef’s superb home baking rarely goes unappreciated (also much appreciated by visitors).
